Fit As A Filly Fitness Day
Our friends at Mi5 Fitness are generously partnering with us for a fitness fundraiser on Saturday, September 28!
Here's how it works: You sign up for one (or multiple!) of the Fit As A Filly classes. The experts at Mi5 Fitness will lead energizing, unintimidating classes tailored to participants' interests and abilities.
All class fees are tax-deductible and support This Old Horse's mission to provide lifelong sanctuary to retired service horses.
This fitness fundraiser is open to the public.

Cost: $25 for one class, $45 for two, $60 for all three

Each class will last approximately 45 minutes and will be tailored to participants' interests and abilities. In between classes, there will be time for a Q&A session with the trainers to get information about fitness, nutrition, and more. Questions? Visit the FAQ page.
12 p.m.: Mobility and Stability
If you’ve just had it with that old nagging injury or you can’t perform at the level that you once could, this is the class for you. Open to all fitness levels and needs, this class is designed to help restore proper joint mobility and range of motion, and improve overall core stability and strength.
Taught by Chris Geisking
Chris started as an intern personal trainer in December 2003. He quickly became known for group weight training classes and coaching techniques that were outside the box. In 2005, Chris began a 22-month-long deployment in Iraq with his Army National Guard unit. He then took on the challenge of Army Ranger School. Chris prides himself on continuing his education and improving his knowledge for his clients. He has further developed himself by completing a master’s degree in kinesiology and several personal-training certifications, including Functional Movement Systems. Chris is also a Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist. Always evolving and always learning is Chris’s motto.
1:15 p.m.: Functional Fitness
Functional Fitness is structured to be a full-body cardiovascular and strength workout in one. This class is designed to burn calories, build lean body mass, and boost metabolism.
Taught by Andrew Franz
Andrew eats, sleeps, and breathes fitness and truly embraces a clean and healthy lifestyle. His passion is to inspire, motivate, and educate people to reach their personal health and fitness goals. Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science as well as several nationally accredited personal-training certifications. He understands the importance of constant evolution of training techniques and education, and utilizes these best practices in everything he does. Andrew also has an extensive nutritional and supplementation background in the wellness industry, helping develop and implement programs to coach people to proper healthy-eating habits for overall wellness and performance.
2:30 p.m.: Yoga
Yoga is a great low-impact way to improve flexibility and core strength—a must for anyone looking to improve their experience with other physical activities, such as horseback riding!
Taught by Kristin Hogan
Kristin’s love of sports, nutrition, and fitness began at a very early age (according to her family, around age 5!). She has a bachelor's degree in health and human performance with a minor in health and fitness promotions. A trainer for more than 10 years, she hold certifications through NASM and the RKC Kettlebell program. She is passionate about education, motivation, and having a great experience.
