Hollister

Meet Hollister, a 2005, AQHA (Kid Looks Reward), 16 hh, sorrel, steal-your-heart gelding! Being a former lesson horse, ‘Holly’ is great with children and has a good understanding of their proximity to him. His body can no longer take the wear and tear of adult riders or daily rides. Hollister would make a sweet ‘grandma’s horse’ who could occasionally take a young child on a leisurely walk. With his arthritis, and a joint spur in his right shoulder (due to arthritis), Holly receives a daily dose of Bute as well as a joint supplement. Hollister wears front shoes, always, due to his thin hoof walls. Holly prefers not to have his nose or ears messed with and will react with a flick of his head (annoyed, but not aggressive). Hollister is sensitive to bug bites (as you see on his body shots), so he requires a fly sheet plus an antihistamine. Holly’s owner would love to keep him, but health challenges are making that impossible. To meet him is to love him. Hollister will draw you in and not let go. Hollister’s last pasture mate crossed the rainbow bridge recently and now Holly is a lonely, loving boy who needs YOU! (The name Hollister refers to a ‘dweller by the holly tree.’) Hollister is currently loved in Prior Lake, MN.
